Evaluation of Rough Cut

The success of the film sequence as a whole overall is good as the order of the shots do make sense and the audience understands that the character is being stalked in her own house. The order in which we planned the sequence is the same in the rough cut as we planned the shot list is extreme detail so that when it came to filming we would know exactly what to do and how.

The quality of the camera work had been a success for the most part as we got some really good shots that we all love. However, the ending of our remake was not there as the camera quality was too bad to use and the footage was not visible or clear enough to use at all. Therefore we will be re-filming the ending after the Christmas holiday.

Our variety of shots used in our rough cut was very varied as we used a lot of different angles and highs to get a real perspective of the sequence and make it more interesting more the audience to watch. Overall we had about 60 shots which it managed to film but we also added more than we needed just to have enough footage for the rough cut.

The use of lighting in our sequence was varied as we intended to film in the natural day light, for our whole film, and as the film went on it was supposed to gradually get darker, like an average normal day. However when it came to filming we did good with the lighting but some parts are not professional looking as the shot was still too dark/dim therefore we will use dimming lights to help balance out the natural lighting with the artificial lighting.

The performance of the characters were extremely good as they were great in working as part of a team and sharing ideas therefore we got really good shots of the characters acting which really emphasis the horror of our genre sequence. Also as we only have two main characters which are only in the same scene towards the end, when it was only one character in the shot, there would be two people behind the camera guiding the character onscreen which helped get a good performance.

The use of out mise-en-scene in out sequence really accentuate the horror genre has we filmed in Lama's house which has a vintage gold and red theme which looks odd against the modern house. This also makes the atmosphere more tense and confusing for the audience. The consumes of the characters are very relatable, for example the typical young teen girl is wearing rugged ripped jeans and a jumper and the demon is wearing all black which no facial features which accentuates the horror and mystery in the sequence.
