Personally, i wanted the story to be slightly different from what it is now however other members of my group thought it wasn't a good idea. This was because my idea was too complicated for our audience and they thought it was more on the thriller genre than of it being horror.
We have decided to keep this as a narrative film opening. In this opening we will be having two perspectives in the film, we think its going to look creepy but mysterious because we will be having tracking shots of a character's eye sight.
Summary by shots:
- Establishing shot of the house from the outside (balcony)
- A girl is getting ready for her night out with her friends, she is wearing her lipstick and looking at herself in the mirror.
- Low angle shot of her shoes
- Medium close up of her dress
- From the balcony on the fourth floor, the audience will begin to see tracking shots of this person wandering in the dark (trying to look for something)
- We then return to the girl and see an extreme close up of her attempting to wear her necklace but then something drops and we hear a loud noise
- We are back to the tracking shots upstairs, the character pauses after hearing (camera stops moving/ tracking) all we see is darkness and hear nothing but silence)
- We then get a long high angle shot of the stairs as the camera tilts. (I think it will be good idea to use sound motif here) (we then return to the man's stalking movement)
- Returning to the girl, she carries on getting ready (wide shot)
- All of a sudden the man just appears on the corner of the room near the staircase. Here we get an over the shoulder shot (180 degree rule) however at this point the audience wouldn't have seen anything about this character yet but they sense something wrong is happening from the use of sound motif and other sounds.
- At this point, we get an extreme close up of the necklace again, trying to show the audience that the man wants it.
- The man attempts to kill the girl by throwing a knife but he fails
- To note that the girl can't see this man we need a high angle wide shot of the room showing that no one is there
- After this we get straight back to the demon and we can clearly see his shoulder and the girl getting ready from his point of view
- After this, the girl attempts to wear the same necklace she wanted to wear at the beginning however, we get an extreme close up of her neck and all we see is nasty long nails hugging her neck. From his point of view we see everything but from the cameraman we can only see the girl preparing.
- Lastly, the man strangles her with the necklace that she hasn't yet worn (closeup)
