Genre: categories of movies e.g. comedy, horror, action.
Sub-genre: genre within a genre e.g. gothic horror.
Hybrid genre: two genres combined e.g. rom-com (romantic comedy).
Codes and conventions: narrative storylines and things expected e.g. death in a horror.
Genre tropes: things that tell us about a genre e.g. fire in action films.
My favourite genre is comedy, but I do still like action films and family films the 3 I have chosen is: Fast and Furious 7, Zoolander and Madagascar.
Fast and Furious 7: This is an action film, in this shot you can see tis by the man saving a woman from her house being blown up. This is the codes and conventions of the film as its expected to happen.
Zoolander: This film is a comedy, here you can see the main character in a funny costume and makeup pulling a funny face. This shows the genre tropes because its telling us about the genre.
Madagascar: This film is a family film, here you can see comical creatures this shows that this is a hybrid genre as its a mix between family, comedy and adventure.
