Alien: Isolation (2014)

At first, there is just a black screen for 5 seconds. The sound begins very suspenseful and transitions subtly into a sound that sounds like a faraway helicopter. This transition happens throughout the whole title sequence. The sound with a black background creates a sense of mystery as you don’t know the location or what sound it is exactly. You then suddenly hear a woman talking. She sounds intimidating but also the fact that she says she’s the only one alive creates a suspense as I, the audience, want to find out why she’s the only one alive. 

The credits start appearing as soon as you see white lines, starting with the ident and the name of the studio. Then, the names of the people in charge of each project appeared on the screen (such as music, designers, programmers, artists, etc.) The names are shown at the same time as the woman is speaking. The white lines remind me of technology and computers because pixels are clearly seen in the white lines. This gives me an idea that the film is going to be something to do with technology. The white lines fade into and out of the screen and there are different sizes that are shown.

Narcos (2015)

This film also starts with the ident and studio company. Straight away, the images shown hint that this film will be about spying or investigating something that relates to a lot of money. The music that is heard throughout the whole opening sequence is Mexican music, which tells me that this film is based in Mexico or around that area. The credits start immediately. 

The images and videos are really interesting as they include some history of the country that this film is based in. You can tell that the film will be about drugs as there are many images of drugs and money. What really interested me is that the title sequence forshadows a lot of what will happen in the film, which is an effective technique to use.
