Title sequences are approximately 1:30-3 minutes long. The font styles used usually represent the tone and genre of the film however, sometimes the font is plain and normal as the title sequence already gives away too many hints (such as music and the colour scheme). Example: For an action film, the font style may be big and bold, however for a comedy film, the fonts may be fun and would have little images made out of the letters.
After watching many opening title sequences, I have noticed that the font sizes are smaller (about size 12) when the images shown are supposed to give hints to the audience, however, if there is a black screen, the font sizes are larger (size 16.)
Another thing that I have noticed about the font sizes is that a title sequences of films made 10 years ago had a much larger font than 2015 films. This may be because the film industry has noticed that the majority of the audience isn’t interested in the production company, producers, the production team or the less important actors.
