RESEARCH - Blog post 10

What is genre?

Genre is style or category.
Sub-Genre is a category that is a subdivision of a larger genre.
Hybrid Genre is a genre in fiction the blends themes and elements from two or more different genres.
Codes are systems of signs, which create meaning.
Conventions are the widely recognised way of doing something which is to do with context, form or style.
Genre Tropes is a significant or recurrent theme, such as a 'clique.' 


Action - Die Hard
The codes of the action film is the: explosion the man running of the car, the mans clothes which look like the military, the broken rusty car.

The conventions is that it makes you fearful of the mans' life as there is an explosion behind him and he can die from it, but he's trying to run away from it therefore it causes suspense in whether he will make it or not.



Comedy - We're The Millers

The codes of the comedy film is the: women in pink's expression and stance, the other characters expressions', the outfits of the characters.

The conventions is that it makes you laugh at the women's expression as something has gone wrong and she's really upset but her expression is really funny.

Teen Drama - 10 Things I Hate About You
The codes of the teen drama is the: Teens facial expressions, their outfits, hairstyles, the room in the background.

The conventions is that it makes you wonder why the two teens have such as doubtful and annoyed expression which makes you suspect that some drama has been going on in their life.
